The coronation weekend celebrations set to drive a spike in food and drink sales…

King Charles III’s coronation (6 May 2023) was a once in a generation event, with British food and drink playing a major part in the celebrations. The weekend celebrations have already created interest in healthy, fresh ingredients and the benefits of shopping locally and buying British.
King Charles III has been a lifelong champion of the British countryside, farming and food standards. His advocacy for sustainable farming practices earned him the nickname “the green king” and he has become a prominent figure in the environmental movement. Farmers are hoping he will bring a new positive focus to British farming.
The extra spending linked to the event could have been as much as £1.4bn. Despite the weather the 3,894 public events and 662 street parties shared on the official coronation website, still went ahead, with the Brits coming out in their masses to celebrate.
Big food and drinks brands also celebrated the coronation weekend, with launches of limited time products and rebrands of their stable products. These have all been quintessentially British and this focus on British is likely to energise the ‘Buy British’ movement as a result. Red Tractor is the only logo on the supermarket shelves where the product’s British provenance has been checked at every assured stage in the food chain to give shoppers confidence in its origin and that it is farmed with care. Red Tractor also celebrated the occasion, by creating a bunting-clad animation of a coronation street party with characters from our new advert. At Red Tractor we congratulate their Majesties on this great celebration and send them all our good wishes for a long, happy, and glorious reign.
